Shawnna Alto, President
Shawnna Alto is the founder and president of LivingWell NV.Shawnna is a native Nevadan and currently resides in Sparks with her two sons. She attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work and graduated from Western Governors University in 2023 with her master’s in business administration. Since 2012, Shawnna has served urban and rural northern Nevada as a licensed social worker in a variety of settings.
Her experience includes child welfare, juvenile justice, public policy, healthcare, and leadership. Since starting her career, she has had the honor of working with individuals and families with diverse backgrounds and needs aged from gestation to 104-years-old, which is a gift she is very thankful for.
Since 2017, Shawnna has primarily worked with older adults in a healthcare setting. This experience opened her eyes to the disparity faced by seniors throughout northern Nevada resulting from a lack of critical services and community supports. The outcomes of seniors she witnessed as a result of gaps and barriers of resources and care were poor health, unsafe living environments, homelessness, social isolation, untreated mental health conditions, and shortened lifespans. These realities led to the creation of LivingWell NV.
Shawnna believes if we come together as a community, we can address the disparities seniors are experiencing in northern Nevada. By working together, we can ensure older adults are able to thrive while living and aging well.
